Khalil is an independent candidate for Ealing with a strong background in education and community leadership. Having lived and worked across West London, Khalil brings extensive experience as a teacher, lecturer, and former school leader, dedicated to improving opportunities for young people and families.
He is passionate about raising standards in education, supporting local communities, and ensuring that residents’ voices are heard in decision-making. Khalil has worked closely with diverse communities and is committed to addressing key local issues including housing, cost of living, and access to quality public services. His campaign focuses on fairness, accountability, and delivering practical solutions that improve everyday life for Ealing residents.

Raj has lived in Ealing for 39 years and worked in the transport logistics, manufacturing and security industries. He has been a union rep for two unions. Raj has supported local campaigns, concluding those to save accident and emergency services and keep the maternity unit open at Ealing hospital, keep Southall Town Hall open and keep a factory open in North Ealing that employs disabled people. He has previously stood as a council candidate for Ealing in Hanger hill, and as a parliamentary candidate in Hammersmith and Chiswick. Living in the area with his family, Raj understands the everyday concerns facing residents. He is standing to represent our community with integrity, listen to your concerns, and work collaboratively to deliver real improvements.

Originally from Kenya, Anwar has lived in Southall for 40 years.

He is no career politician, but a working class family man. A qualified Motor Vehicle Technician, Anwar has an extensive engineering background having worked on International Passenger Railways for 26 years.

Anwar feels very passionately about local issues, which prompted him to join like minded individuals at Ealing Community Independents to bring about change.

The decline in living standards for local residents due to mismanagement by the council is exemplified by the deteriorating roads, pavements, fly tipping, uncontrolled structural developments, uprooting of social services etc.

Anwar is also a keen classic car enthusiast and feels quite strongly about the rampant anti motorist agenda pursued by this council – treating motorists as cash cows. This needs to stop.

To prevent congestion local routes need better planning instead of simply blocking and narrowing existing roads.

Motorists too need Anwar to represent them.

Yousef is a Palestinian‑British civil engineer and environmental scientist who has lived in Ealing for more than 25 years. Born in 1953, he brings decades of technical expertise in sustainable infrastructure and community-focused planning. His long-standing commitment to Greenford Broadway is shaped by a belief in fairness, cleaner streets, safer neighbourhoods, and practical solutions that improve daily life. With deep local roots and a career built on evidence-based problem‑solving, Yousef is dedicated to ensuring residents’ voices shape the future of Ealing.

Cathy is an avid campaigner for a cleaner borough. She has demonstrated her commitment by building the Litter Action Group for Ealing Residents (https://lagercan.co.uk) from a group of 375 to more than 2,500 volunteers over the past five years. During that period LAGER Can volunteers have donated labour equivalent to that of ten full-time employees per year to keeping the borough’s open spaces clean. By April 2026, LAGER Can volunteers had recorded the removal of 175,000 sacks of rubbish. Local residents and visitors to Greenford will no doubt be familiar with seeing piles of LAGER Can volunteers’ trademark blue rubbish sacks dotted around the Broadway and other litter hotspots across the ward, particularly on the weekends. By logging their work and liaising closely with the Greener Ealing Limited team, LAGER Can ensures that the rubbish they have collected is removed promptly, for the benefit of all. Our recent Great British Spring Clean event involved removing the rubbish from all 146 parks in the borough, including Ravenor Park. We are currently lobbying for improved ‘binfratructure’ – including larger, wildlife-proof bins – to keep our parks beautiful and safe for all users.

Combatting litter and flytipping, ideally at source, remains one of Cathy’s passions. She knows that rubbish makes residents feel miserable, and is terrible for the environment. She believes it could be significantly reduced if residents were more aware of what constitutes flytipping and what can be recycled; if facilities were available that made it as cheap and easy as possible for all residents to dispose of their waste responsibly; if officers involved in enforcement were supported in checking that businesses have valid waste transfer contracts; if strong enforcement action were taken against proven environmental criminals. Whether elected or not, Cathy will continue to engage with residents and the relevant stakeholders to try to deal with residents’ rubbish-related issues.

Volunteering all over the borough has heightened Cathy’s understanding of other major issues that negatively affect residents, including the cost of living; the development of property for investment rather than homes; a lack of policing leading to increased antisocial behaviour; the loss of/reduction in amenities, including the wonderful Greenford Library, the children’s centre, high street shops; transport policies that make life for essential car users (running LAGER Can means that she is one herself) challenging and frustrating, and risk damaging local trade.

Cathy knows that residents feel that their concerns are not heard, and that decisions are not always made in their interest. Cathy is keen to have meaningful engagement with residents and work hard to ensure that their needs are addressed where possible. Residents want to feel that they are living in a democracy.Cathy believes LAGER Can has thrived because of the strong and mutually-respectful relationships it has developed with its many partners, supporters and stakeholders. These include Ealing Council officers, who are working hard in often difficult circumstances to deal with their workload; local politicians – Cathy does not believe that relationships between political parties need to be adversarial; local schools and youth groups; local businesses; importantly, other community groups volunteering in Greenford Broadway, including Ealing Wildlife Group, which runs Costons Nature Reserve, and Clean Up the River Brent, with whom LAGER Can works to improve the cleanliness of the river in Greenford and elsewhere. If elected Cathy would continue to work hard with all stakeholders to try to address residents’ concerns. 

Mike has lived in Northfield ward for over 26 years. Now retired, he has worked as a librarian and researcher in the public and private sectors. A veteran campaigner for peace and social justice, he is an officer of Ealing Trades Union Council and the local branch of Unite Community. Mike joined Ealing Community Independents because he believes Ealing deserves better. A council that listens. Investment in public services – not cuts, closures, or privatisation. Truly affordable homes for all. A council that does not support companies in violation of international law and human rights in Palestine and across the world.

Craig has lived in Ealing for more than 25 years – helping bring up two children through local authority schools. A proud community campaigner and trade unionist, he is committed to equality, justice, peace and human rights. He believes key local decisions should be participatory – shaped with, not done to, residents and workers. Craig is a founder of the Save Ealing Children’s Centres campaign, a former school governor, and serves as an officer of Ealing Trades Union Council. He is a former business journalist and now strategic communications director, with experience working collaboratively at a senior level within large, matrixed organisations.

Florence has lived in Ealing for over 30 years and both her children went to school here. She used to work locally and now works for a trade union as an executive assistant. Most of her closest friends live in the borough. This is genuinely Florence’s home, and that’s exactly why she wants to serve it.

Florence has been a trade union representative for nearly two years, and serves as branch secretary at work, which has given her real skills in listening, representing people fairly, and challenging decisions that aren’t in the community’s interest. Her priorities are housing affordability, schools and young people, and putting residents back in charge of decisions that affect their neighbourhood. Too often, people who live in an area have the best ideas about fixing it – but nobody takes the time to ask them. Florence will.

Mark joined Ealing Community Independents to try and make a difference. Mark has always lived within the Borough and has lived in Southall for over 30 years. 

Mark is a civil servant and has been a Customs Officer in the past protecting our borders. He is an active disabled trade union campaigner for better public services and was part of the save Ealing tax office campaign before it eventually moved to Stratford. 

Mark is a stroke survivor so was involved in the local Trades Council campaign to stop Ealing hospital A&E being downgraded to an Urgent Care Centre. 

Born and raised in Southall, Happy has lived, worked, and served in the community that shaped him. His life is guided by duty, justice, and a commitment to defending the rights of his neighbours. Southall is his lifelong home, and his goal is to give back to the place he loves while helping preserve the values that strengthen England. Known for his integrity and independence, he cannot be bought or influenced – his loyalty is to the people alone. He stands for honour, dignity, respect, and love for everyone who calls Southall home.

Jahangir is a technology professional with over 25 years’ experience in technology, research, and enterprise leadership. He currently leads analytics and digital transformation projects within an international organisation. He has also served in policy and non-profit roles supporting sectoral development and child education initiatives.  He is standing in Norwood Green because he believes stronger local leadership is needed to prevent the rise of far right driven by wrong Labour policies and their overall poor economic performance. His priorities would also be about addressing deteriorating living standards in the ward and tackling youth joblessness. He wants to revitalise Southall’s local businesses and create real employment pathways for residents in a meaningful way.

Debbie is a lifelong West Londoner and award‑winning community advocate who has called Perivale home for over 25 years. With professional experience in education, local government and the NHS, she understands the pressures facing families, public services and neighbourhoods across Ealing. Her grassroots work spans campaigns for racial justice, the NHS and local libraries, as well as hands‑on initiatives such as food banks, clothes swaps and toddler sessions created in memory of her daughter. Debbie also supports Windrush families, serves as a school governor and contributes to the London Race Action Plan. She is committed to community‑led politics that protects residents, strengthens services and defends Ealing’s green spaces.

Tina has lived in the Borough of Ealing for almost 44 years and in Pitshanger since 1988. She was a secondary school teacher in Ealing and surrounding boroughs before retiring. For many years, she volunteered for the Pitshanger Community Association at events such as Party in the Park, mainly in charge of recycling.  She also introduced and has organised the popular annual charity PCA  Street Wars Quiz for the past 18 years. In addition she has volunteered for Ealing Food Bank and has tutored many students who have struggled at school.

Tina loves this borough and believes passionately in the protection of our urban wildlife and our environment. She joined ECI as she feels it is time for a change to community-based local politics.

Miça is standing for election to advocate for South Acton residents who for too long have been let down and marginalised by people in power. A keen socialist and activist, Miça has worked as a mental health nurse in the NHS for nearly 10 years and knows first-hand how our public services are being destroyed by relentless cuts. Miça has been part of Health Workers for Palestine and strongly supports calls for Ealing Council to divest from companies linked to the genocide in Palestine.

Miça has been a vocal opponent of cuts to Ealing’s Children’s Centres, and has worked tirelessly with West London Stand Up To Racism helping to mobilise against the far right in Brentford and West Drayton. 

In South Acton, Miça is helping build a campaign to stop the Michael Flanders Centre being closed and to fight for better housing for all.

Miça is now focusing full time on activism and her rugby career – previously playing for Saracens, now for Trailfinders in Ealing, she hopes to bring that same fight and discipline as an athlete to her political work in Ealing Council.

Elizabeth joined Ealing Community Independents to protect public spaces and essential services from being lost to development or outsourcing. She has seen how the closure or sell‑off of children’s centres, adult care facilities (e.g. Michael Flanders Centre, Acton) and other community assets can leave residents without support. Elizabeth previously worked in the NHS and at Birkbeck, where she earned a PhD in cultural studies. Having lived in South Acton and returned over a decade ago, she is committed to ensuring public land, libraries, parks and social care remain in community use. Her goal is simple: a council that puts residents and public services first.

Glen has supported South Acton residents for over a decade through the Redbrick community organisation, helping neighbours navigate regeneration, repairs and local issues. During the Covid pandemic, he worked with Acton Gardens, Acton Youth Centre and local groups to deliver large‑scale emergency food support, leading to his recognition as a Community Champion. Glen also serves on Ealing’s Your Voice Your Town committee, helping fund projects that improve Acton’s environment and community spaces. Having lived and worked locally for many years, he is committed to strengthening community networks and ensuring residents have a meaningful voice in local decisions.

Joginder has been living in Southall since 1965 with his wife and two daughters – who have all grown up, married and are living locally as well. Joginder – known by his friends as Joe – has been running a road transport business since late 80s. He got involved in local politics from the side lines and used to attend many ward forums held by the council. Many residents ask Joe for guidance and advice on local problems, such as hospital departments which were closing, the parking problems faced by many residents or concerns about the construction of thousands of flats at the old gas works site.

Minni arrived in Southall as a three‑year‑old immigrant and has spent her entire life rooted in our community. Her career was based at Dogra & Co. Solicitors on Southall Green. She served as a school governor for 17 years.

After retiring, she retrained to teach English as a second language. But walking through Southall after the pandemic, she saw the decline caused by decisions made at Ealing Council. Minni began challenging these failures through letters, meetings, Freedom of Information requests, protests, and petitions on issues including overdevelopment, planning failures, broken pavements, the loss of ward forums, and cuts to vital public services.

Minni helped secure a public inquiry into the proposed Dominion car park towers, fought to save Southall Youth Centre, delivered a 4000‑signature petition to Downing Street to protect our Crown Post Office, opposed harmful CPZ extensions, and raised awareness of the proposed closure of half of Southall’s Children’s Centres – now subject to judicial review. 

She understands Southall because she grew up in its story. Her commitment is simple: to give our community a strong voice and put Southall first.

Jatinder has lived in Southall his whole life and is deeply rooted in the community. With over 15 years of experience in creative leadership and campaign strategy, he has led national and global communications projects, bringing people together and driving change.

He is standing up to be a voice for those without one and will fight for better services and stronger community spaces for residents, local businesses, and the vulnerable. He wants to restore community pride and secure a better future for our children. 

From our WWII veterans who gave everything to those who fought racism and skinheads in the 80s, their struggle was not in vain. Stand with him and shape Southall’s future.

Angela has lived in Southall for twenty years and worked in the London Borough of Ealing at West London College for eighteen years. Angela has campaigned on air pollution firstly establishing Insistent Residents Against Toxic Emissions (IRATE) followed by Clean Air for Southall and Hayes (CASH). She is passionate about raising awareness of injustices affecting residents’ quality of life and has organised children’s play activities with other volunteers. Angela currently works as a teaching support in a local college, assisting students with learning and physical disabilities.

A Southall resident for 26 years, Qamer raised his family here and built strong relationships across our community. He’s campaigned on key local issues and seen first‑hand how Southall has been neglected, with persistent fly‑tipping, anti‑social behaviour, rising crime, poor roads and too few facilities for children and older residents. He’s standing to demand accountability and ensure Southall gets the respect and investment it deserves. If elected, he will be a dedicated voice for residents, working to make our area clean, safe, vibrant and welcoming for everyone who calls Southall home.

Dan moved to Southall in 2021 after living and working across more than 40 countries. With a background spanning retail, construction, insurance, tourism, entertainment and tech, he brings practical experience and a hands‑on approach to community problem‑solving. Since settling in the Green Quarter, he has joined several local groups focused on improving the area and strengthening resident involvement. Dan has been motivated by concerns about overdevelopment, stalled infrastructure and deteriorating streets. His priorities include ensuring developers deliver essential community facilities upfront and restoring pride in Southall through initiatives that improve neighbourhood upkeep and support a stronger, more connected community.

Sukhi is a 49-year-old independent candidate committed to practical solutions that put our community first. 

As a working professional and family man, he understands the real pressures people face, from rising living costs to the need for safer streets and stronger local services.

 He believes in transparency, accountability, and responsible budgeting. 

His focus is on improving community wellbeing, supporting local businesses, promoting healthy lifestyles, and ensuring decisions are made with residents – not political parties at the centre. 

Sukhi is running to bring common sense, integrity, and genuine representation back to local government.

Darius has been a resident of Ealing since birth and is  proud to call the borough his home. As a democratic socialist he joined Ealing Community Independents to try to help improve the lives of residents in the area he loves, after being disappointed by the continued failure of the Ealing Labour council, and has campaigned for the divestment of local council tax funding weapons companies. Darius has worked as an articulated lorry driver all across London and has a strong interest in the maintenance of our roads and transport network. He is also very passionate about the preservation of our local parks and wildlife.

Carl is a socialist candidate who has lived and worked across West London and understands the pressures facing working class people in the area. Having witnessed the impact of rising rents, housing insecurity and the erosion of public services, Carl believes politics must stand firmly on the side of the working people rather than corporate interests. A former organiser in a university rent strike campaign and now working in housing, he has long supported grassroots action to challenge unfair systems and defend tenants’ rights. Carl also remains committed to equal rights and standing up the most marginalised groups in society, such as the inclusion and rights of trans people and supports freedom and self-determination for the Palestinian people.

Richard has lived in Ealing permanently for over ten years but known the area for much longer. Richard is an educator and manager and has worked for theatre companies across the country. He was an active campaigner for Sister Supporter which stopped the harassment of women on Mattock Lane. As a democratic socialist, Richard was previously in the Labour Party but left five years ago in complete despair at the machinations of the local Labour Party in Ealing, and fearing they had abandoned all their principles. He believes that any political party should first serve the interests of the residents, the people it represents, not the interest of those who lead or fund it. As such, he helped form Ealing Community Independents with people from the community properly representing the interests of the community. He supports divestment of the pension scheme away from weapon systems and arms manufacturers and into green renewable industries and technologies.
